ugh.
So Joe and I have had a rough go at life lately. Last week, one of our dogs {Chloe} 'pounced' on one of our cats {Autobahn}. Auto seemed immediately injured, which terrified us.
Joe brought Auto to the vet the next morning - and his problems were just horribly timed with Chloe's pouncing, but most likely not related. But.. he had a seized bladder muscle, a mucus plug clogging his urethra, and his kidneys were nearly in failure because his BUN and Creatinine levels were off the charts high.
There were moments that I honestly didn't think he'd make it. I've never seen him that sick before - he was a floppy mess of a cat, couldn't control his bladder, didn't put up a fight to get meds, and didn't make a peep when put into his cat kennel. Very, very sad. I even went as far as calling my sister Tana to come see him, just in case he didn't make it past the weekend. It was bad.
Thankfully, things are improving with Auto. His kidneys are still in a bad place, but the levels are improving, which is good. He doesn't have great bladder control yet - when he urinates by choice it's only a small amount so clearly he is still dealing with seized and stretched bladder issues. I feel so badly for him - but our vet said that it wasn't our fault and that these things come on so fast that we really truly caught it as quickly as we could.
Also. About a week ago, I noticed a bump on the back of one of Jenson's legs. He was due for his vaccine updates, so we brought him in for a general check up and update, and they collected a sample from inside his growth. And it's cancer.
We are treating him with some meds to try and shrink it, and on February 13th he'll be going to the vet that the Minnesota Boxer Rescue uses to have it removed. We love {LOVE} our vet in Eden Prairie, but between the $1000 we've already spent this month on Auto, we don't know how we can fit another $700 into the budget for Jenson's surgery. Thankfully, the vet that MNBR works with was able to give us a bit better of a price, and our vet was totally understanding of this and sent over Jenson's chart so the crew at Otter Lake Animal Hospital would have it and be that much more prepared for his biopsy.
The entire last week has been exhausting and emotionally draining for both Joe and I. We love our pets and want to do everything we can to care for them - but this has been a bit too much, too fast, too costly. Yikes.
So please, keep us in your thoughts the next few weeks as we hopefully bring Auto to a full recovery, and hope that Jenson's tumor remains small and isolated. We would appreciate any good juju sent our way.
xoxo

hi..
wow. It's been a while, yes?
I can't believe I've forgotten to post my weekly photo post! Truth be told, I didn't take many pictures last week. As my fellow Minnesotans know, it's been cold here! I've been hibernating.
Hang in there, while I try to find something interesting in my life to share. I promise I'll be back soon....

A Little Misty
I'm a little misty, listening to the song that Jay-Z did for his new baby girl {Blue Ivy Carter}. Also - he raps about Beyonce's miscarriage which seems super rare for celebrities, especially rappers, to talk about.
I, for one, love the song and their honesty. <3

Life
Life has been interfering with blog life!
1. I still haven't taken down our Christmas tree.... Oops! Tonight, maybe? {hopefully?}
2. Chloe has decided that pooping inside the house during the overnight hours is somehow an acceptable activity. Eff.
3. Snow, where art thou? Our yard is once again a total mess. I want snow, or early July. None of this in between crap!
4. Because I worked NYE, I am off tomorrow. What to do?! {take down the tree?}
